Indications for Statin Therapy in Diabetes

Aged >40yrs type 2 or type 1

Aged 18–39yrs type 2 or type 1 and

 Significant retinopathy

 Nephropathy

 Poor glycaemic control (HbA1c > 9%)

 Hypertension

 Cholesterol >6mmol/l

 Features of metabolic syndrome: Ting >1.7mmol/l; HDL <1.0 in men, <1.2mmol/l in women

 Family history of premature CVD in first degree relative
