Toe nail data. Binary probit models featuring fixed interceptsα, treatment effects β1, time effects β2, and time-treatment interactions β3are compared. Random intercept (RI) and random intercept/random slope (RI + RS) models were estimated by the Laplace (L) and Adaptive Gauss-Hermite Quadrature (AGQ) approximations to the likelihood (implemented in packages lme4and glmmTMB). In addition, the exact discrete log-likelihood (2.6) was used for model fitting and evaluation (the in-sample log-likelihood (2.6) for all models and timings of all procedures are given in the last two lines)
