CHADS, congestive heart failure, hypertension, age 75yr or older, diabetes mellitus, and a history of stroke or transient ischaemic attack. The
stroke rate per 100 patient-years without antithrombotic therapy
increases by a factor of 1.5 for each one-point increase in CHADS
score.
