Cover illustration: The inset cover image shows secondary wall thickening (indicated by yellow autofluorescence due to lignification) in cells from a stem section of a transgenic plant of Arabidopsis thaliana that is over-expressing MYB63, a transcription factor in the MYB46-mediated regulatory network that controls secondary cell wall formation. Recent studies have shown that MYB46 not only regulates the transcription factors but also the biosynthesis genes for all of the three major components (i.e. cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin) of secondary walls.
