Get help with access

To get access to our world-leading journals, digital books, and reference products you need to be logged in via your library. Find out how to sign-in.

If you are logged in but still can’t read the full text, you can send a request for access to your librarian by using our online form

Our journals and a small selection of digital books are also available for individual subscription. If you’ve been given a code or subscription number, find out how to activate it.

To buy a book in print please visit our catalogue.

How to sign-in

To get access you can either sign-in with your own personal account (for when you’ve purchased a personal subscription or are using a code/subscription number) or via your library.

Many methods libraries use mean you will get access automatically, like campus access or referring URLs. However, some methods will require you to login in using a specific option. Find out more about institutional access methods.

To access content simply click the account icon in the top right of any page on the site:

Then choose the option you need:

  • Click “Sign in through your institution", find your institution, and sign in.

  • Click “Sign in with your library card”, find your library, and enter your library card number.

  • Click “Sign in with your username and password”.

Being signed into an account doesn’t mean you will have access to all the content on Oxford Academic. This depends on what’s been purchased – by you, your library, or your society. When running a search you can choose to filter by availability. If you don’t have access to a piece of content, then this will be indicated by a blue ‘Get Access’ label.

You can log in with multiple accounts to get access to any entitlements associated with those accounts. One log-in of each type can be done simultaneously. Clicking “Sign out” will log you out of all accounts, except those that you access by being at your library or institution (i.e. IP authentication).
