The ISA Journals are Moving to Online-Only Publication

Due to disruptions caused by the pandemic of COVID-19 infections, the International Studies Association journals published by Oxford University Press have decided to transition to online-only publication. The change was originally scheduled to happen in 2021 but will now begin with Issue 2 for each of the journals.

What happens to my subscription?

For all current print customers we will be adjusting your subscriptions to online only and giving a pro rata refund if required. Customer Services will be writing to subscribers with more details.

For ISA Members

The International Studies Association will automatically change your subscription from print to online-only. For any questions regarding online access through your ISA membership, please contact the ISA directly from their website.

How do I get online access to the ISA journals

For ISA Member Subscribers

See above.

For Personal Subscribers

Step One: Oxford Academic account
If you have never accessed your journal online before, you will need to create an Oxford Academic account.

Step Two: Activating your subscription
After you have registered or signed in you will need to activate your subscriber number. This is the 8-digit number supplied when your subscription was first set up (it may be preceded by '0000' on correspondence), and it tells us which journals you are entitled to view. If you do not know what your subscriber number is, please contact Customer Services. We will need to know your full name and address, as well as the name of the journal you are subscribed to. Once you have your subscriber number, please select Activate Subscriptions and Trials from the main menu and enter the number.

Step Three: Accessing online content

To access journal articles after this process is complete, simply select the journal(s) you are subscribed to from this list and navigate to the article of interest. If you are prompted to sign in at any point, please enter the account details you created in step one.

For Institutional Subscribers

Please read our Frequently Asked Questions regarding online access and authentication for more information.
