JDH is launching a new section named Explorations for shorter submissions that can be provocative, reflective, creative, poetic, experimental, or responsive. The journal is seeking submissions that nurture innovative, experimental, and creative interventions in researching and writing about design and its histories.
Call for Proposals: Translations
As part of its globalisation initiative, the Journal of Design History invites proposals for its annual DHS-Sponsored Translation. Each year the DHS makes funds available for the translation of a significant and influential article or portion of a book of equivalent length, which has not yet been published in English. Texts proposed for the DHS JDH Translations scheme should have made a demonstrable contribution to the field primarily as historical analysis or critical commentary.
Design and the Spirit of Critical Utopianism
This Virtual Issue, edited by Barry M. Katz, draws upon more than thirty years of the journal’s publishing history. This collection hopes to show that scholars have been attentive to the power of design to raise questions whose answers may belong more to the realm of future possibility than to the expectations of their clients and customers.
