Evidence Based Acquisition
Evidence Based Acquisition (EBA)* is a way for libraries to tailor the resources they purchase to the needs of their users. By the end of your EBA period, you will be able to make an informed purchase based on usage data, selecting only the titles you know will be used most at your library.
EBA is available for University Press Scholarship Online, Oxford Medicine Online, Oxford Journals Archive, Oxford Scholarship Online, Oxford Clinical Psychology, Oxford Handbooks Online, and Very Short Introductions.
*Availability varies by region
How does EBA work?
- We will share customized pricing for the EBA titles for your institution. Once you’ve made your deposit, your EBA access period begins.
- Your users will have access to the agreed-upon titles or collection(s) for 12 months.
- At the end of the 12-month access period, we will provide you with COUNTER-compliant usage data that will inform your decisions about which titles to add to your permanent collection.
For more information, please contact your Sales Representative/Account Manager.
Key points to note:
- Before your EBA access period begins, we will provide a quote of the EBA-fee based on the range of titles you select. The purchase price at the end of the 12-month period is the same as our standard title-by-title sales deals. Please contact your Sales Representative/Account Manager for more information.
- Full collections, subject modules, and customized collections are available through a variety of different access options. Contact your Sales Representative/Account Manager for more information.
- If you have selected a full collection or subject module(s), your EBA access period will include new titles as they become available.
- We will enable access to the selected content and provide the MARC records as soon as your payment is received. You also have the option to specify a start date.
- Your Sales Representative/Account Manager will provide you with the complete list of the titles in your EBA purchase. MARC records and book and journals KBART files are available.
- At the end of the access period, Oxford University Press (OUP) will provide your library with a comprehensive usage report. Based on the usage data, it is your decision on which titles to purchase.
- OUP provides COUNTER-compliant usage statistics. Additional usage reporting can be provided on request.
- If you wish to purchase titles which cost more than the balance of your EBA deposit, you can simply pay the difference. All titles purchased at this time will become part of your permanent collection.
- OUP has a variety of promotional materials and training resources to help promote usage. If you need any additional support, please contact your Sales Representative/Account Manager.
