Indexing and discovery

Providing Discoverability and Indexing services is a vital way to help promote content, facilitate access, and drive usage to Oxford University Press (OUP) publications. For this reason, OUP works with a range of partners to provide these tools. These include, Library Discovery Services, abstracting, indexing and citation databases.

Library discovery services

Library discovery services are online tools that enable participating libraries to search across a wide range of content and offers our customers another method for discovering our content accurately and efficiently. OUP works with EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), Exlibris (Alma, Primo, Summon), and OCLC WorldCat Discovery to ensure these discovery service providers are given complete metadata and full text of our content. This ensures vendors can index our journals and online products, making it visible and discoverable for library users around the world.

Abstracting, indexing, and citation databases

In addition to the above library services we also work with a range of other citation and indexing partners such as Scopus and Web of Science, which provide general access across a broad range of our titles, and other more subject specific partners that focus on particular disciplines.

For further information on the core metadata elements we provide for our customers and discovery partners please see the NISO Open Discovery Initiative checklist. For detailed information about access methods, please consult this Technical Guide for Librarians.
