Abstract
This book is an effort to shed light on problems of electoral integrity by combining the lenses of global comparative approaches and the contextual findings of a case study. Accordingly, it explores the causes and consequences of problems related to electoral integrity in Turkey with a novel approach. The primary deficit in the current towering literature on electoral integrity is its preference for checking whether the elections in specific contexts correspond with global liberal democratic procedures and meet global norms and international conventions. Moreover, few investigations have paused to integrate electoral integrity into the theoretical frameworks to examine electoral institutions in non-consolidated democracies. Accordingly, this book offers a theory identifying the causes and consequences of problems related to electoral integrity at individual and institutional levels. Findings indicate the need for further research in the area, particularly in alternative contexts, which will help us solve the democratic problems of our time. This approach contributes to the literature by utilising theoretical approaches and research strategies of existing studies, proposing alternative data sources that will describe the phenomena better, and, most importantly, presenting a theoretical framework that will suit both singular and comparative cases.
