Erratum: Including impacts of particulate emissions on marine ecosystems in life cycle assessment: The case of offshore oil and gas production

A number of textual errors were identified in the published article.

• 1.

  In the article abstract (p. 678), the range of the characterization factors for turbidity is not provided. The text should read: “The characterization factor for turbidity is developed analogous to characterization factors for toxic impacts, and ranges from 1.4 PAF (potentially affected fraction) · m³ · d/kg_p (kilogram particulate) to 7.0 × 10³ for drilling mud particles discharged from the rig.”

• 2.

  In the results (p. 682, section “Characterization factors for particulate emissions”), negative exponents were incorrectly removed on two places. The correct text is: “For the larger cutting particles (0.07–70 µm), lower characterization factors are obtained, i.e., between 6.0 · 10⁻³ and 7.0 · 10¹ PAF · m³ · day/kg_p.” and “The characterization factor for burial due to cutting particle deposition on the seafloor equals 2.0 · 10⁻¹ PAF · m³ · day/kg_p.”

• 3.

  Throughout the document, the unit of the Characterization Factors is incorrectly shown as PAF m³/d/kg_p. The correct unit of the Characterization Factors is PAF · m³ · d/kg_p.
