The correlation between immune-related adverse events and efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors
The validity of immune-related adverse events as surrogate markers of the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment remains unclear. This review examines the pivotal studies on immune-related adverse events.

Breast Medicine
Neoadjuvant therapy increases the risk of metabolic disorders and osteosarcopenia in patients with early breast cancer
Neoadjuvant therapy for breast cancer can cause glucose and lipid metabolism disorder, bone mineral density decrease and muscle reduction, which suggests that patients had an increased chance of developing osteosarcopenia.
Breast Surgery
A nomogram to predict the pathological complete response in patients with breast cancer based on the TILs-US score
The tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes-ultrasonography score is a non-invasive procedure to predict lymphocyte-predominant breast cancers and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes-ultrasonography score-based nomogram exhibited a favorable predictive ability for pathological complete response in patients with breast cancer.
Gastrointestinal Surgery
Sarcopenic obesity predicts short- and long-term outcomes after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery for gastric cancer
Sarcopenic obesity was an independent risk factor for short- and long-term outcomes in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced gastric cancer.
Cholinesterase as a predictor of skeletal muscle loss after gastrectomy for gastric cancer
Serum cholinesterase levels predict skeletal muscle loss after gastrectomy in patients with gastric cancer, suggesting the importance of cholinesterase in postoperative nutritional management.

Elranatamab in Japanese patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma: results from MagnetisMM-2 and MagnetisMM-3
Elranatamab monotherapy demonstrated clinical efficacy and manageable safety in Japanese patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, similar to the overall patient population and supporting further studies in Asian populations.
Orthopedics/Sarcoma
Factors associated with work sustainability in patients with bone metastasis
We examined data from 124 employed patients with bone metastases. These patients need support to continue working and to commute and move around in the workplace.
Pathology
Establishment of artificial intelligence model for precise histological subtyping of lung adenocarcinoma and its application to quantitative and spatial analysis
We developed an artificial intelligence model to classify lung adenocarcinoma histologically. Combination of quantification and spatial analysis demonstrated the potential for new uses of histological subtypes.
Analysis of PIK3CA mutations in the primary and recurrent tumors of hormone receptor positive/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 negative breast cancer
The highly consistency of PIK3CA mutation status between primary and recurrent tumors suggests that detecting mutations in primary tumors could substitute for analysis of recurrent samples when they are not easily obtainable.
Thoracic Medicine
D-dimer cut-off value for predicting venous thromboembolism at the initial diagnosis in Japanese patients with advanced lung cancer
Easily measurable biomarkers are important to identify asymptomatic venous thromboembolism (VTE). A D-dimer level ≥3.3 μg/ml at the time of diagnosis of lung cancer is predictive of coexisting VTE.
Thoracic Surgery
Franseen needle in endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration: a phase II prospective study
We assessed the usefulness of Franseen needle-dedicated endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration and found the Franseen needle tended to show a greater amount of specimen with higher tumor cellularity.
Urology
Changes in the trends of initial treatment for newly diagnosed prostate cancer in Japan: a nationwide multi-institutional study
In Japan, radical prostatectomy and radiation therapy have increased as initial treatments for prostate cancer, whereas androgen deprivation therapy has decreased. Radical prostatectomy has become the most selected initial treatment.
Clinical Trial Note
Protocol for a prospective multicenter randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy of texture and color enhancement imaging (TXI) observation in the detection of colorectal lesions (deTXIon study)
A randomized controlled trial to confirm the superiority of new texture and color enhancement imaging than white light imaging in detecting colorectal neoplastic lesions during colonoscopy.
