About the Journal
The aims of the Journal of Economic Geography remain unchanged from when the journal launched in 2001: to redefine and reinvigorate the intersection between economics and geography, and to provide a world-class journal in the field.
The journal is steered by a distinguished team of Editors and an Editorial Board, drawn equally from the two disciplines. It publishes original academic research and discussion of the highest scholarly standard in the field of 'economic geography' broadly defined.
The aims of the Journal remain as relevant now as they were in 2001. Now more than ever, a journal publishing work by economists and economic geographers is crucial for dealing with the ‘grand challenges’ facing the economy, society and academic research. The Journal of Economic Geography continues to abide by the founding vision whilst innovating to respond to the needs and priorities of contemporary scholarly research.
In particular, the Journal of Economic Geography emphasises openness and inclusivity, welcoming plurality in research across methods, empirical foci, theoretical perspectives and global geographies. The Journal seeks through its content to represent the diverse landscape of academic research. We encourage everyone researching the economy and its geographies, defined in the broadest terms, to submit papers for consideration, across the qualitative and quantitative spectrum, including conceptual/theory-development papers and a diversity of empirical contexts.
