Institutions and libraries can subscribe to a wide variety of Oxford Academic content. If you need access to a specific resource, please recommend it to your librarian directly, or use our online form.

Selected Oxford Academic journals and books are also available for personal purchase or subscription.

Journals

Individuals can purchase personal subscriptions to specific journals, single back-issues published in the current and preceding two years (e.g., in 2021, issues from 2019 onwards are available), and pay-per-view access to individual articles.

Specific journal access may also be available via society membership. Visit the homepage of the journal you are interested in or our society members page for more details.

Single issue or print copy

Oxford University Press (OUP) cannot supply single print copies of specific articles to individuals. These can be obtained from the Supply Centre at a copyright library. The staff at your library should be able to advise you.

If a journal has the option to  purchase personal subscriptions or a single issue this will be accessible by visiting the journal’s homepage and then clicking ‘Purchase’. Select the appropriate ‘Buy’ button and follow the instructions to complete your purchase.

Short-term access

If you don’t have a journal subscription, or you’re trying to access an article that was printed prior to 1996, short-term access may be available. Once you have found the article you’d like to view, click the ‘Buy’ button to see what is available and follow the on-screen instructions.

This transaction requires you to log onto your Oxford Academic account – if you don’t have an account, you can create one free of charge.

After you have registered or signed in you will need to activate your subscriber number. This is the eight-digit number supplied when your subscription was first set up (it may be preceded by '0000' in the email you were sent). Please select ‘Activate Subscriptions and Trials’ from the main menu of your My Account and enter your number.

If you do not know what your subscriber number is, please contact Customer Services, supplying your address and the name of the journal to which you are subscribed.

To access your subscribed content, select the relevant journal and navigate to the specific article you would like to view. If you are prompted to sign in, please enter the account details you created earlier.

Books

Individuals can purchase personal subscriptions to a small selection of our online books. Some of our print books come with an offer for free online access – please follow the instructions that are included with the book.
