Prof. Magnus Bath, PHD
Professor, Department of Medical Radiation Sciences, Institute of Clinical Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden; Senior Medical Physicist, Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden
Areas of interest: Magnus Båth has a joint position as professor in medical radiation physics at University of Gothenburg and senior medical physicist at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. His main research interests relate to different aspects of optimisation of medical imaging and radiation protection. This includes e.g. the development and application of methodology for evaluation of image quality, simulation of dose reduction, cost-benefit analysis of radiation protection, learning aspects, optimisation strategies, and machine learning. Prof. Båth has developed visual grading characteristics (VGC) analysis, a non-parametric rank-invariant statistical method for image quality evaluation based on visual grading, and has been part of the development of ViewDEX, an image viewer that has been especially designed to facilitate image perception experiments and observer performance studies within medical imaging. His research spans across most medical imaging modalities, with an extra emphasis on chest tomosynthesis.
