This book is a natural progression from the introduction text ‘The Oxford Handbook of ENT’. It will provide the ENT trainee with virtually all the information they will need to progress from their introduction to ENT practice through the hurdles of assessments and exams into independent practice in the field. The text covers all the major sub-specialist areas of ENT and will give the reader a solid knowledge base in each. The comprehensive index, ‘key points’ and bulleted text give the trainee rapid access to important information and advice when dealing with emergencies. This, unlike any other handbook, also covers all the common and important operative procedures in ENT and will give the reader a stepwise account of most of the operations they will need to learn to master. The blank sections within the text are ideal for making your own notes and individual key learning points from your personal experience and from your teaching. The ENT numbers section gives a review of wide areas and can also act as a useful revision aid. The Introduction section covers topics such as ‘dealing with difficult patients and colleagues’, ‘Appraisal & Audit’ as well as many other issues you will face on a daily basis in developing your medical practice. This book will become a trusted companion, valuable aid and ‘study buddy’ whether in clinic, on the ward, in the operating room or preparing for the next professional hurdle.
