NAR Cancer is now indexed in MEDLINE
We are pleased to announce that NAR Cancer has been officially indexed in MEDLINE, the premier bibliographic database of the National Library of Medicine (NLM). All research published in NAR Cancer is already available in PubMed, ensuring discoverability, visibility, and accessibility of your published research. Additional indexing in MEDLINE underscores the quality and credibility of the journal, ensuring that published articles meet rigorous quality standards. We are proud to contribute to the global scientific community and look forward to continuing to publish high-impact research that advances medical knowledge.
Associated with quality, impactful research
Since the journal's inception in late 2019, its content has been well cited and widely read. The editors invite you to explore a collection of the most read and most cited articles published over the last two years.
Unique scope at the intersection of cancer and nucleic acids fields
NAR Cancer features a mix of papers including cell and animal model-based laboratory studies, cancer data resources, and computational tools. It covers the same range of nucleic acid-related areas as its parent journal, NAR, but with a unique emphasis on causes, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. The journal is also open to papers on all cancer types. For a detailed description of our scope, please refer to our 'Scope and Criteria for Consideration' page.
Focus on the author experience
NAR Cancer is run by scientists for scientists, with engaged and responsive peer editors. It has a very fast (26.3 days) average time to first decision. It has a recently expanded, 70+ member Editorial Board that is aligned to diversity of the field. A high-quality cohort of experienced reviewers provide constructive feedback on submitted articles. A dedicated, in-house editorial staff provides outstanding author service. The journal accepts direct submission from bioRxiv and has a seamless process for transfer of submitted articles to and from other journals in the NAR family.
Open access means no paywalls ever
Readers who find your article through search engines or social media can access the complete content. This accessibility extends to everyone, not just those with institutional access or private subscriptions. Research indicates that open access articles receive more full-text downloads, attract a larger numbers of unique visitors, and garner more citations compared to articles published under traditional licenses. Our open access fee covers all costs, including page and color charges.
Maximization of article-level impact
A full deposit agreement with PubMed Central ensures that all content is searchable on PubMed. Additionally, the @NAR_Cancer_EIC feed on X (formerly Twitter) announces newly published papers. The journal's homepage features graphical abstracts, and each issue highlights 'Editor's Choice' papers. NAR Cancer, published by Oxford University Press (OUP), is a not-for-profit publisher with a global presence and reach. Their resource center provides answers to all your questions, including advice on how best to promote your work once it's published.
Special Collections to highlight topical content
NAR Cancer publishes annual topical collections with Critical Reviews and Perspectives, short reviews, and standard articles focused on a thematic area. Recent collections focus on DNA Repair and Nucleic Acids Therapeutics and Cancer Epigenetics. An ongoing, open collection of Cancer Data Resources is devoted to articles that describe queryable databases, web-based services, or stand-alone software implementations.
Commitment to Open Science
NAR Cancer endorses the principles of Open Science, a movement that promotes the unhindered access to scientific research. NAR Cancer follows the same data deposition policy as Nucleic Acids Research. To promote the integrity of the scientific record, authors deposit large-scale datasets in applicable repositories and adhere to best practices and guidelines for standardization and reproducibility.
