Scope

In response to the 2020–2030 Strategic Plan for NIH Nutrition Research, the journal is searching for review papers that address “genetics, dietary habits and eating patterns, circadian rhythms, health status, socioeconomic and psychosocial characteristics, food environments, physical activity, and the microbiome” as they relate to targeting improvement in nutritional status of health for specific people and populations.

Article Types

All types of reviews will be considered for publication including narrative reviews, scoping reviews, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses.  Guidance on the format for these reviews are provided in our website’s Author Guidelines.

Submission Instructions

Please submit through the Journal’s submission site.

In the submission form, answer “yes” to the question “Special Issue?” and choose the title of the special collection from the dropdown menu.

Peer Review and Publication

Peer review is handled by Nutrition Reviews editors. All articles will go through the typical rigorous peer review process of Nutrition Reviews and must reach the same acceptance criteria as regular articles in the journal. Articles in the collection will be published when ready into an issue and presented in a dedicated virtual collection once all the articles have published. Articles will not be delayed so they can publish in the same issue with other collection articles.

Open Access

Nutrition Reviews is a hybrid journal, so authors can choose to publish under a standard license to publish or under an open access license. Please note that open access publication carries an open access fee that will not be waived or discounted for the collection. Please see the Open Access section under the “Procedures” section of the Author Guidelines for more detail.  OUP has a growing number of Read and Publish agreements with institutions and consortia that provide funding for open access publishing. This means authors from participating institutions can publish open access, and the institution may pay the charge. Find out if your institution is participating.
